"You must concentrate upon and consecrate yourself wholly to each day, as though a fire were raging in your hair."
"We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals... In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth."
"Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small. We haven't time, and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time."
"Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul."
"The invariable mark of wisdom is to see the miraculous in the common..."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
King James Bible
Maurice Wilson arrived in Tibet in 1934, intent on climbing the mountain alone. He was found dead in 1935 by another expedition, in front of his tent, evidently preparing to put on his boots.
The last entry in his diary was this:
"Off again, gorgeous day."
My father lived this way.
I try to live this way.
And I wish for each of you, to live each day this way, with a passion for life and our beautiful world.
